Canada is a solid squad w/ good GK and one of the better strikers in Sinclair. But China is the host and will not wager against them in group stage.

I think the Japs beat or at least tie the USA..The days of Mia hamm are long over gentlemen..add to that, Abby Womback`s broken leg against Brazil..And the USA will be eliminated by 7am-The Menace

USA...chris, I hope they win 2-nil. Personally, I think it's possible. Japan is, not surpisingly, a disciplined and technical squad.

Not sure what adjustments Sundhage will make. Chalupny may not play in the back line, so Lopez may get the start at left back. Boxx...I don't know how she maintains her place in the starting XI at central midfield.

Norway scored on their first chances of the match...what are the odds on that occurring. It's difficult to comeback from that v. a world-class side like Norway. After a jittery early 1H, USA played better. 2H was promising as well, but Norway was content to counter.

best of luck, chris

I don't think so...but we'll certainly see in about 2.5 hours from now.

Japan will be a tough opponent and it's a must-win for both teams.

Not sure of the confidence in attack for the US women. Def. need better midfield play v. Japan.

not to sound superficial, but the fugliest team in the Olympics has got to be Nigeria.

Germany has the Bride of Frankenstein's monster in GK Angerer...even her name sounds intimidating. :missingte

I am looking forward to Norway's game v. New Zealand - perhaps the best looking squads in China.:pope:

Still looking at both matches but will prob. lay off the USA match completely due to my wager on USA to win the gold.

USA match will be tough v. Japan as it was in the group stage. I think the WNT's play is ascending which is good because to get the gold they'll have to play their best.

First goal given up was freakish, v. Norway. 2nd goal was off a lazy giveaway and nice strike..not sure what Solo could've done. Goal v. Canada was off a poor giveaway near the penalty area...thought Solo should've saved it. Otherwise US defense has been tight. It'll be up to the midfield play. US has had prob. finishing...really should have scored v. Canada in the 2H...glad they didn't. Maybe Kai's confidence grows after game-winner and A-Rod can get in behind Japan.

Brazil has improved since the WC while Germany's attack has gone AWOL, namely Prinz has had a forgettable Olympics so far. This should be a titanic struggle, which some are calling the "unofficial gold medal" game...but USA isn't far from either of these two teams and could well find gold in Beijing.

GL in the final hm ... USA played well today but so did Brazil. I'd expect the price you have for the gold is about the price they'll be in the final. USA have not played a top 4 team yet so it will be a huge test
